Go Ahead – Be Petty. Now’s Your Chance!

slide11Like to hear it or not, at one time or another, we can all be petty. It can be embarrassing and even shameful UNLESS you are given permission or encouraged to “let it fly”

Here is your opportunity. Leave a comment (click on comments below this post) on that little thing that “irks you to the nth degree”. Be creative. Traffic, lines at the grocery store, the DMV don’t count.

Come on, dig deep, vent… it will feel good!

Bad (Christmas) Haiku

  Tree’s all taken down–
year’s end–where is Christmas now?
Deep within each pulse.

Now More Than Ever

toysfortotsI hate to think of how these tough economic times impact those less fortunate than most of us (ok…99% of us) . I wont go on and on with tugs at your heart-stings but I have seen first hand through inner-city gift outreaches and orphanages in Mexico how much one gift can mean. I have passed out gifts at those events in which i knew from their parents that it was the only gift they would receive.

I would invite you to join me sometime on one of these events. Ask me about other ways to be involved. If you can’t, then please know that any gift you can donate to the Toys For Tots programs is greatly appreciated. I have a become a collection center at my office and would love for you to drop by a gift (or ten!) and take the time to say hello. Many of you I look forward seeing again or for the first time. We are open 9am-5pm Monday through Friday for drop off (or to come by and say hi!).

We will be having and open house on Tuesday, December 9th all day. I would love for you to stop by and say hi, have some Christmas goodies and drop off your toy.

100ft Of Defensible Space

savedhome1In January 2005 a new state law became effective that extended the defensible space clearance around homes and structures from 30 feet to 100 feet. Proper clearance to 100 feet dramatically increases the chance of your house surviving a wildfire. This defensible space also provides for firefighter safety when protecting homes during a wildland fire.

What Is A Book-Off?

1.  Function: – intransitive verb – chiefly Canada : to notify an employer that one is not reporting for work (as because of sickness)

2. The storefront that 95% of drivers on 163 south from Clairemont Mesa Blvd. wonder about.
It’s a least worth a visit to this unique take on a used book store. Located at 4240 Kearny Mesa Rd next to the Staples.

logo_headerFounded in 1990, the company has had explosive success, expanding to 866 stores throughout Japan and eight overseas locations (as of August 2006). In addition to books, its chains also sell CDs, DVDs manga, and video games. The stores are distinguished by their large surface area, cleanliness and bright illumination, as well as the loud welcoming shouts of the staff that spread throughout the store each time a customer enters. MANY newer books and CD’s can be found for under $3.00 and surprisingly a large amount of quality books for $1.00!

bookoffAn interesting fact… Book Off innovated the practice of shaving the edges off the pages of books using a special machine in order to make them appear newer.

Good Ol’ Mr. Clean

mr-clean1This week one of my clients called stating that his new BMW had been vandalized by someone writing all over his car door with a permanent marker. Before placing a claim he decided to do some online reasearch on the solution to this problem. The next day he called saying that he had not only done some interesting fact finding but had found and used a product much to his satisfaction. Claims of nail polish remover, oil degreaser, hairspray etc… sounded a little risky but many people had tried one solution with great results… The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser!

Who knew?… all that muscle (steroids?) that Mr. Clean sports is now good at fighting crime! Welcome back Mr. Clean, we knew you had it in you!

…on a similar note – I was surprised to find so many “solutions” to removing permanent marker from you hair!???

Nintendo and The Surgeon General

smokingdsThe Nintnedo DS should be standard issue for anyone struggling with life. It can train your brain, teach you to cook, show you how to drive, learn another language… Heck, it’ll even help you lose weight and now, with the help of reformed chain smoker Allen Carr, help you quit the cigs.

If you’re thinking ‘why’ at this point, chances are you love lighting up and no game will teach you otherwise. If, on the other hand, you’re looking for a reason to give up, here are two: firstly, smoking is bad for you, but then you already knew that. Secondly, and more importantly, have you tried playing the DS and smoking at the same time? It’s impossible, and it’s all too easy to accidentally grab your smoke instead of the stylus and burn a hole in the touch-screen.
